The Medici family of Florence, Italy were a big patron of the arts and fostered and inspired the era of Renaissance Period. They funded (by giving money to the artists to work on the artwork) and sponsored artworks on several great Renaissance artists such as Donatello, Michelangelo Buonarotti, and Leonardo Da Vinci.
